Corruption is really taking over the taxi industry

This are some of the taxi's that are operating with
fake certificate.

Traffic officers have discovered a building in down town Johannesburg that makes fake certificates that taxis need in order for them to be able to operate on the road read more. This building was discovered by a traffic officer who pretended to be a taxi owner who wants to buy the fake certificate. We all know that down town is famous for its various scandals, but who could have thought of a scandal like this.
What I want to know is that do these taxi owners realize how many lives they are putting in danger just because they greed and do not want to pay for the original documents. I having been always asking myself that why if the is an accident that involves a taxi most of time the taxi driver is nowhere to be found, you will never find the driver at the scene. So I guess is it because they are using fake documents?
From a communicating point of view I that the department of transport is not doing their job because if they were doing their jobs they would have recognized that there is a certain number of taxis that are travelling on the road and the is a certain of taxis that are not paying for their certificate and would have made a research.

  2. I think that maybe that is the reason why the transport deparment did not realise that they taxis using fake document because traffic officers take bribe from this drivers and give back a false report back to the department.

    1. Yes it is true you can just see that the taxi is in no condition to be on the road the is no need for any testing to be done and well done to the traffic officers.

  4. i realy dont think that the department of transport is reliable for this because there are lots of taxi owners and am sure that the department would not be able to keep up with all these taxis that are on the road

  5. We really would not know who to blame, because you may find that the government or justice system was not aware. Drasric action has to be taken because really people's lives are at stake.

    1. Maybe do not know who to blame but the main fact is that the transport department is not doing their job so who do we blame now the transport department or the taxi owners.

  7. I think perhaps these is caused by the long process that you must take in order for your certificate to be successfully and also it might be that it's expensive to apply for it.On the other hand there is high rate of unemployment in SA therefore people will do anything that will be an easier way to them to make ends meet.Lastly the Transport Deaprtment should now have a dialogue with the Taxi association regarding on how to better the situation within the Taxi industry.

  8. Yes it is true that the documents take time and are expensive but that doesnot give taxi owners the right to risk with peoples lives.

    1. As a prp i would have to start by building a good image of the taxi industry before i would deal with the corruption that is taking place in the taxi industry.

    1. Public transport is the transport that most South Africa’s rely on. I also wish I could buy my own transport when I think about using public transport.
