Should condoms be distributed in high schools?

Choice free condom issued by the
Government: source

My answer to this question is that; yes condoms should be distributed in high schools. We as a society need to face the reality that high school pupils are having sex inside the school premises without using protection. Let us forget about the law that is prohibiting 16 years old from having sexual intercourse and deal with this issue.
The distribution of condoms in high schools is causing a legal snag because the law prohibits 16 years old from having sexual intercourse. I do not understand this how can the law prohibits 16 years old from having sexual intercourse and then allow 12 year old to have abortions.  Do you think that this is a valid reason or it is just an excuse not wanting to provide condoms to high school pupils?
The soon-to-be-launched Integrated School Health Programme. In high schools, I think that it is a good idea that needs to be taken into consideration fast. The reason why I am saying that this is a good initiative is because the pogramme is going to offer a basket of services which including HIV counseling and testing, education on sexual and reproductive health, and the provision of condoms for the high school pupils.
Our high school pupil’s need this programme and the government should consider changing the law before it is too late.

  1. i agree with you condoms should be distributed because high school pupils are already engaging in sex so by educating and at the same time giving them we are telling them to be protected all the time

  2. Yes condoms should be distributed to schools because our kids already now more about sex and the distribution will help decrease the number of teenage dropouts.

  3. Its high time we became realistic and provide condoms to these pupils if we want to see them continuing with school and not dropping out because of unwanted preganancies and abortions because the truth of the matter is that high school kids know more about sex than we think and yes they are practising it.

  4. Yes condoms should be distributed because we are already facing a big challenge. If we leave this issue unattended therefore there will be no children in SA because Aids and other negative results of unprotected sex will destroy and kill them.

    1. I am obviously going to eat that apple but the distribution of condoms is to teach them to protect themselves when they are having sex not to promote them to have sex.

    1. I agree with schools are premises for learning not for having sex but the fact is that 70% of sexually activities take place inside the school, during school hours so why not protect them by giving them condoms.

  7. If high school pupils want condoms, why don't they go to clinics? The only thing that schools can do is teach sex education whereby there is encouragement of going to clinics, and to also promote abstinance.I think that for school children to be afraid of going to clinics is proof enough that they are not matured enough to have sex. Full stop.

    1. You have made a valid point that needs to be taken to consideration but the problem is that school pupils are embarrassed to go to clinics and fetch condoms so we were trying to make things easier for them.
